FDI & Commemorative Covers

First Day Issue and Special Commemorative Covers are issued by the Principality of Paulovia through the offices of the Posta Servizio Principato.
First Day Issue covers are decorated or illustrated envelopes, bearing new issue Paulovian stamps cancelled (franked) with an official "first day of issue" cachet or date stamp. These covers are issued in small limited editions of between 5 and 50 units depending on the significance of the stamp issue.
Special Commemorative covers are the same as FDI covers in design but commemorate events in the Paulovian or international diary. These covers bear current Paulovian stamps and are cancelled with a specially commissioned cachet mark or the normal official date franking for normal mail i.e. not "First Day of Issue". These covers are issued in small limited editions of between 5 and 50 units depending on the event being commemorated.

Name: Football World Cup FDC Order Ref: FDC010610 Issued: 01 June 2010 Production: Limited to 15 units Size: 220mm x 110mm First Day Issue Franked: Yes Description: The FIFI 2010 World Cup stamp set commemorates this great sporting event being hosted in Africa for the first time. The first four values bear the flags of two groups of finalists in the design. The colours of the South African flag are represented individually through the designs in the base border. A mixture of NVI and value indicated stamps. This FDC bears a full se-tenant set of stamps with Type L2 cancellation and special footall cachet and legend.
