Andreas Islands
Andreas Island is the most southern collection of islands in the Paulovia Islands with the sparesly inhabited Valjean and Fantine islands being the most southerly situated. The Andreas Islands produces wine and olive oil in the traditional Greek Cypriot manner. It has a small eco-tourist industry based on visiting yachts and private visitors as the wildlife is particularly abundant on and around the island. Andreas Island was declared a National Park in spring 2007, the first dedicated natural park in Paulovia. Agios Andreas is the principal town of the island and boasts an ancient and beautiful chapel dedicated to Saint Andrew within its 800 years old town walls. Essentially Greek in character and agrarian in occupation, visitors are welcomed as long lost friends into the tavernas, cafeneos and even homes of the Andreans. Overnight stays for tourists is strictly controlled and limited. Fantine Island was granted semi-autonomy until 2014 by HRH Prince Paul in July 2009. Whilst all matters relating to national, foreign and economic policy remains under the control of the Paulovia Royal Government, local domestic policy for the island is under the guidance of the Princess Ellen, Countess de Fantine.
