| National BirdThe House Sparrow is the national bird of Paulovia. Once a common bird throughout the islands and around the International Embassy, the species is declining. The royal household and Embassy actively support a feeding and birdbox scheme to encourage the 'little brown budgies' to increase their numbers. The sparrows give constant pleasure to the royal family, embassy staff and visitors, whilst maintaining a delightful and necessary ecological balance in the royal gardens. The sparrow is featured on the 30p value stamp from the Wild Birds stamps set issued in the Spring of 2009. |
