International Embassy Paulovia

The Principality of Paulovia is a micronation or virtual micro-state which is a historical, political and social simulation. Paulovia was formally established by HRH Prince Paul I on 31July 1998 and made its internet debut as a virtual micronation on 27 July, 2005. During your visit you can learn about Paulovia's history and visit our own Philatelic Bureau and online stamp shop.

Although created for entertainment Paulovia has a serious side. The Principality actively supports environmental, educational and charitable issues. Paulovia promotes and highlights social and charitable campaigns through the Embassy and its consulates, encouraging its citizens and non-citizens alike to champion and support these campaigns throughout the world.

Paulovia raises funds for charitable donations by various methods including income from sales of limited edition philatelic items and postcards through a online stamp shop.

In July 2008, Paulovia celebrated its tenth anniversary since re-establishment. To mark this historic event a 10th Anniversary Commemorative Stamp and First Day Cover were issued on 31st July, 2008. These items and many more are available for purchase from the Philatelic Bureau

 Citizenship

Paulovia does not offer full citizenship to persons born outside existing Paulovian estates, the Diplomatic Mission or appointed staff of the royal retinue. However, the Embassy does offer Honorary Citizenship to persons meeting our criteria. The Royal Paulovia Government also seeks suitable citizens to act as Honorary Consuls, Consul Agents and in other capacities throughout the world. Honorary Citizens are eligible to receive honours and awards for charitable works; educational achievement; courageous acts; protection of the natural world; promotion of microntationalism; and for services to Paulovia or the Royal Family.  The Crown does not charge any fees for Honorary Citizenhip or for honours and awards bestowed. Paulovia Honorary Citizens are located and distributed throughout the macronational and micronational worlds.

 History

The Principality of Paulovia has a short but interesting  history as a minor European monarchy with a diverse Anglo-Greek-Italian cultural heritage. Throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries war and geo-political changes caused the slow decline and eventual loss of Paulovian estates in Italy, Greece, Russia and throughout Europe. The last vestiges of macronational Paulovian Royal territory in continental Europe was lost in 1974 following the Turkish military invasion of Cyprus. Only small private family estates now exist in the United Kingdom including the International Embassy and Diplomatic Mission.

 Location

For many years the Paulovian Royal Family has enjoyed the protection and indulgence of the British Crown and this significant link is maintained today. The Diplomatic Mission and International Embassy are located in the United Kingdom. The Paulovian Islands themselves are virtual - they do not appear on any world map, real or otherwise or in any historical atlas, but act as a focal point for all citizens. Imagine the best aspects of the Mediterranean islands you have visited - that is the essence of the "Islands" but without tourists!

  Consulates

Paulovian Consuls were appointed in November 2008 in the UK, Italy, Norway, India, UAE, USA and Malaysia. Further consulates are expected to open in 2009. By applying for Honorary Citizenship you can also become a serving member of the Paulovia Diplomatic Corps. Campaign for a more socially and environmentally just world, protect the interests of Paulovian citizens and be part of a global state without borders.  Become a Paulovian Consul in your part of the world!

Thank you for your visit today.
